Nondestructive Testing, NDT

ABOUT
Non-destructive testing is used to detect discontinuities such as crack, corrosion or manufacturing defects without damaging their future usefulness.  NDT is applied to all stages from raw materials, fabrication processes, finished product and also after service.  NDT is essential element for quality control of product, particularly for pressure vessel, process equipment, piping and steel structure.

NDT use principles of physics such as radiation, light, sound wave, magnetic and electric energy to evaluate properties of materials and component.  Each method has its own advantages and limitations based on its capability, suitability, sensitivity and cost.

Basic Nondestructive Testing Methods

1. Visual Testing, VT

2. Radiographic Testing, RT

3. Ultrasonic Testing, UT

4. Magnetic Particle Testing, MT

5. Penetrant Testing, PT

Advanced Nondestructive Testing Methods
